Cadets Make Their Voices Heard in First Campus Presidential Election

Woodstock, VA (Massanutten Military Academy) - Woodstock, Virginia, briefly took center stage in the race for the White House Tuesday morning.

The Corp of Cadets gathered in Cook & Kitchin Dining Hall for Massanutten Military Academy's first presidential election. Our day began with teachers passing out information sheets about the four leading candidates and their parties, so cadets could factor those points into their decisions. They focused on topics that matter the most to them, and asked questions about the campaign points, messaging and the election as a whole.

Then, each cadet was given a paper vote so they could select the candidate they would elect. The votes were dropped in a ballot box and counted. That data point will soon become a teaching tool, when our faculty can compare the results from our on-campus vote with what the nation decides.

Cadets will stay up later Tuesday night so they can watch the results live on Election Day. It's part of our effort to make sure every Massanutten Military Academy graduate walks away as a global citizen. Graduates take skills they have learned to make the world a better place and respects other cultures and traditions.
