My Days at MMA: Cadet Major Bluestein

Woodstock, VA (Massanutten Military Academy) – If you have any questions about the daily schedule at Massanutten Military Academy, Cadet Major Bluestein is the first person you go to for answers. As the Battalion S3, he’s the one who works to keep everyone on track.
“Every week, I will ask the Deputy Commandants or the Academic Dean what we have for the week with events,” he said. “What’s this going to look like, what’s that thing going to look like.”
His voice is one of the most familiar ones around campus. Part of his job is also to announce formations and uniforms. However, it’s the personal interactions that Bluestein said he enjoys the most.
“Leading the cadets in general and kind of guiding them,” he said. “I think that’s one of the biggest parts of leadership, is getting to guide the cadets in different ways and guide the leaders in stuff they may not understand.”
HIs passion for knowledge stretches beyond his leadership role.
“My favorite class is philosophy,” Bluestein said. “It challenges me and we get to talk about a lot of topics that interest me.”
He’s also constantly seeking out new interests.
“The opportunities for new experiences are the best part about being here,” he said. “Rappelling, land navigation, small boat operations; they’re all things I’ve never tried before or things I didn’t even know existed.”
Bluestein’s days at MMA are coming to a close this spring. He’ll walk across the stage as part of the Class of 2025, and his future plans are already coming together.
“I plan to go to Norwich University for the Naval ROTC program then commission as a Navy SEAL,” he said.
He also had a message for anyone interested in enrolling at Massanutten Military Academy.
“It’s going to be a different experience than they’ve probably ever experienced before,” Bluestein said, “but it’s worth it. The opportunities, the experiences, the friends; all of it makes it worth it.”
Bluestein is also one of our Admissions Ambassadors. If you schedule a tour today, we'll have one of our Cadet Ambassadors available to share their experience with MMA and how it ended up as the right choice for them. You can contact our Admissions Office at 540-459-2167 Option 1 or visit their webpage to learn about an individualized roadmap to help your teenager reach new heights. MMA is still accepting new students for the 2024-2025 school year!
