Community Service

A Commitment to Service, a Lifetime of Leadership

List of 1 items.

  • Developing Leaders through Service

Leadership lessons extend beyond the classroom and military lessons. Massanutten Military Academy also instills our cadets with a deep sense of responsibility to our community of Woodstock, Virginia, and beyond. As part of our commitment to character-building, every cadet must complete 25 hours of community service each academic year. By dedicating their time and effort to these projects, our cadets grow into responsible, compassionate leaders.

Ways our Cadets Get Involved

List of 3 items.

  • Community Events

Cadets play an integral role in some staple events for the Shenandoah Valley community. Each year, we march in the Ole Town Edinburg and Light Up Woodstock parades. Cadets also help check people in and give directions during the unique WoodsTACO Street Taco Festival. You'll also see volunteers from MMA helping kids paint pumpkins or ornaments, as well as putting up decorations around town to bring the festive spirit to Woodstock.
  • Mentoring and Tutoring

Many of our cadets choose to give back by helping other students with their studies. Our leaders also provide mentorship to younger cadets, preparing them to step into those challenging roles as each new year begins.
  • Supporting Local Organizations

Whether it's assisting in food banks or ringing bells for the Salvation Army, our cadets are always ready to lend a hand.
Our commitment to community service is more than just a school requirement. It's also an essential part of Massanutten's philosophy to cultivate empathy, teamwork and leadership skills. Volunteering gives cadets a deeper understanding of the challenges others face while developing a strong sense of civic duty, critical to their development as global citizens.
You know your child can do more but is not getting the attention needed in their current environment to reach their full potential. We know that choosing the right school for your child can be difficult because each child is so unique. We believe students should experience school as it should be, a place where children are educated in an environment that leads them to thrive and encourages their maximum potential.
