Growing as Leaders and Competitors through Athletics
Woodstock, VA (Massanutten Military Academy) - An inspiring winter sports season is coming to a close at Massanutten Military Academy. Cadets spent the last three months fighting to the finish, while also growing as leaders and competitors.
The 2024-25 season was exciting for Massanutten. Our swim team returned to competition for the first time in years, while our rifle team earned a return trip to our state match. Our boys and girls basketball teams played their hearts out in every game, encouraging each other to grow as athletes and people. Our weightlifting team helped cadets condition their bodies and minds.

Competitive sports are key for teenagers to develop discipline, teamwork and leadership. It’s a feature military schools share with traditional public schools to help foster students’ growth and success. Athletics are one of three key pillars to cadet success at Massanutten. Along with academics and leadership lessons, these competitions help boys and girls develop discipline, grow their self-esteem and hone new skills.
Up next, cadets will choose what sports they want to compete in for the spring season. This year we're proud to offer JROTC Raiders, baseball and track and field. Conditioning is already underway, so stay tuned to see what new heights our cadets will reach!
