Massanutten Cadets Recognized for Community Service in Woodstock
Woodstock, VA (Massanutten Military Academy) - Military schools proudly prepare cadets for a lifelong belief in service and supporting their communities. Parts of the JROTC Creed include always practicing good citizenship and seeking the mantle of leadership. This commitment to service is part of what helps develop Massanutten Military School graduates into global citizens, along with our motto: Non Nobis Solum (Not For Ourselves Alone).
Our cadets never fail to rise to the occasion when they see an opportunity to help those in need. One way they continue to show that is through acts of service for the community of Woodstock, which we are so grateful to call home for the last 126 years. This school year alone, 23 cadets have performed a combined 136 hours of community service. From WoodsTACO to Christmas Hometown Holiday, Massanutten cadets help keep local favorite events running smoothly and improve the experience for everyone enjoying the day.
The Town of Woodstock recognized our group for all of their contributions during an awards banquet on Friday, February 28th, 2025. Each cadet was given a t-shirt, certificate and a gift certificate for selflessly sharing their time. After the ceremony, they were also rewarded with games to celebrate, including a doughnut eating contest and cup-stacking challenge.
Massanutten's commitment to community service is more than just a school requirement. It's also an essential part of our philosophy to cultivate empathy, teamwork and leadership skills. Volunteering gives cadets a deeper understanding of the challenges others face while developing a strong sense of civic duty.
