Mrs. Harper has a Masters degree from George Washington University. She was a Certified Project Manager for the federal government for 15 years, when she decided to follow in the footsteps of her ancestors by becoming the 4th generation in her family to become a teacher. She completed the Career Switcher Program and became a licensed Virginia teacher.
Mrs. Harper joined the MMA faculty mid-year in 2011 as an English teacher. During this timeframe, she started the Drama program at MMA by obtaining items after a local theatre shut down. In 2015, she left MMA to spend 7 years in the local public school system. However, her heart brought her back to MMA where she felt she had the best opportunity to establish deep relationships with students and foster their growth.

She lives for the "aha" moments when students finally grasp a concept in class. Mrs. Harper fosters learning through structure, honesty, and most definitely, humor. Her passion is teaching Drama and she particularly loves it when cadets learn to function as a team to create a beautiful work of art. It brings her great satisfaction when they learn that creativity can be hard work, but it is also a journey of joy and their personal self-growth. Her philosophy is that we can all learn and grow from each other.
She is looking forward to sharing the spring musical of "Moana, Jr" with the MMA family, her husband, who is always supportive, her beautiful children and sweet granddaughters, as well as the Shenandoah County and MMA community at large. Mrs. Harper encourages everyone to reserve their tickets as soon as possible through our website. She also enjoys showcasing our caring cadets throughout the community of Woodstock with volunteer opportunities through the town itself, and other organizations such as Salvation Army. Our cadets are great, and we want everyone to know that!
