Woodstock, VA (Massanutten Military Academy) – Every Massanutten Military Academy graduate walks away from our school as a leader, global citizen, innovator and communicator. A key to component for developing those traits can be found in acts of service around the Woodstock community and beyond. Every cadet must complete 25 hours of service each year, and we’re so proud to see them rise to the challenge, and often go above and beyond.
Our efforts started just a few days into the school year with Woodstock’s annual WoodsTACO celebration. The one-of-a-kind street taco competition for the Shenandoah Valley brings people from around Virginia, Maryland and D.C. to our corner of the world. Cadets supported the operations team by helping guests navigate the event, or answering any questions that came up throughout the day.
Near the start of spooky season, cadets got creative for Halloween on Court Square. They helped construct pumpkin people that stood around town to add to the atmosphere before the actual celebration. Another group joined in for trunk-or-treat, lending a hand through their face painting skills. Then on Halloween itself, a group of cadets went to a local daycare to help with their holiday walk.
We also got some extra fall flavor by helping make open-fire apple butter. Our cadets were involved from start to finish in the long processes, from prepping the apples to stirring the mixtures over the campfire.
Our Color Guard also had their best foot forward as they presented the colors for a MITER Foundation charity golf outing and live auction. They were on the stage both nights to present the U.S. Flag. The event raised more than $3.5 million, which will go toward transformative programs supported by MITER Foundation.
These acts of service can kick off a lifetime of community support and commitment. It is just one way that Massanutten helps young men and women built structure to find success in life. It also mirrors our institution’s motto "Non Nobis Solum" —Not for Ourselves Alone—and helps us inspire our nation’s future leaders.

You know your child can do more but is not getting the attention needed in their current environment to reach their full potential. We know that choosing the right school for your child can be difficult because each child is so unique. We believe students should experience school as it should be, a place where children are educated in an environment that leads them to thrive and encourages their maximum potential.
