Woodstock, VA (Massanutten Military Academy) - For more than 10 years, if you've set foot on Massanutten Military Academy's campus, the chances are you've seen the impact of Mrs. Sarah Treese. From coaching to the classroom and cadet life, she's done a little bit of everything.
"Teacher, coach, and whatever is generally asked of me," she said.
From the moment she joined the Academy, her dedication to the cadets has been obvious. She's provided them with the structure they need to find success, cheered them on in parades and competitions and organized games and campus fun.
"Being with the kiddos," Mrs. Treese said about her favorite part of the job. "I love celebrating their highs and lows."
This dedication and care is part of what earned her the recognition of Faculty Member of the Month for December.
"Her care for the cadets has never wavered," Head of School Mrs. Kimberly Elshafie-Layman said. "She is a team player and encourages everyone to be their best."
Mrs. Treese is a go-to resource for other teachers, coaches and staff members when they need a hand. They know she'll lend an ear and likely have a solution. In fact, the only question she's struggled to answer is her biggest success.
"I can't even say on this one," she said. "That's tough. I just love being here."
This semester, you'll find her teaching art and engineering, coaching girl's basketball or cheering on our cadets at events across campus. Be sure to keep an eye on the Watkins Fine Arts Center, because you'll also see her creativity on full display with decorations and projects.
