Experiencing History at Massanutten
Woodstock, VA (Massanutten Military Academy) - An understanding of world events and respect of culture and traditions are two key components in developing future leaders at Massanutten Military Academy. Those focuses took center stage on Monday, January 20th, 2025, as cadets experienced history.
First, cadets watched the moment President Donald Trump took his oath of office for the second time. Back in November, cadets had stayed up to watch the election results and followed that up with conversations in their history and government classes. These focused around the historic results, as well as the traditions and changes to the Inauguration ceremony.
After the broadcast, cadets gathered in the Mess Hall to recognize Martin Luther King Jr. Day. They each colored different puzzles pieces. When put together, the puzzles featured some of his famous quotes or tributes to the civil rights leader. This project allowed the cadets to see how each of their own perspectives and ideas could be combined into one cohesive project.
